I have owned on of these for about 7 years and have been extremely pleased with the results. The machine is easy to adjust and use. The sharpener is very consistent for angle and is relatively quick. You need to sharpen in stages and allow for cooling time. However, I am usually sharpening 10 or 12 blades at a time so making one or two passes on each end and then allowing to cool while I make a pass on the others allows for plenty of cooling time. This sharpener is a fantastic product.

A Beautiful Lawn or the Bare Minimum: What Kind of Grass Do You Want?

It’s something so simple, but it really matters: Your lawn’s appearance depends a lot on whether you keep your lawn mower blades sharp! Sharp lawn mower blades produce healthier, more attractive turf. Dull blades may chop down all the vegetation, but can also damage your lawn.

Why Is it Important to Sharpen Your Lawn Mower Blade?

Your lawn mower doesn’t actually cut your grass. That may not be what you expected to hear, but it’s true. The blades tear the grass. If you notice frayed brown tips of your grass every time you mow it, you can be sure your blades are dull. A sharp cutting edge gives a good quality cut and does less damage to the turf.

If you have turf in your front yard, it makes sense to maintain it properly. A ragged garden lowers the curb appeal of your home, which can affect its value. Sharpening your lawn mower blades is a small thing to do to help maintain the value of your home.

How Often Should You Sharpen Your Lawn Mower Blade?

Whether you enjoy mowing your lawn or find it a tedious chore, most people don’t enjoy sharpening mower blades. So, it’s useful to know how often you should sharpen the blades to get the best effect.

According to a poll of professional lawn care services and landscaping experts, sharpening every 25 hours of mowing is optimum. For them, it is about once a week, but for you, knowing your timing is necessary. Obviously, the time it takes to mow your lawn depends on how many square feet it is. What you need to do is check the time it takes to mow it and calculate how many mowing sessions it takes before you have reached 25 hours. This is good news because of the unpopular myth that you should sharpen the blades after every mowing!

Most people don’t own a mower blade sharpener because they don’t realize how important it is. We can help. We offer an easy-to-use bench grinder and other models that will help make lawn mower blade sharpening a breeze. When you use the right tool, you get the correct sharpening angle and won’t damage the blades.
