Choosing the Right Commercial Stand-On Mower

When you own a lawn care or landscaping business, you need to have the right commercial mowers for the kind of work you do. Stand-on lawn mowers give you and your team a lot of flexibility. For efficiency and getting great results fast, commercial stand-on mowers are a wise choice.

Stand-On Mower Safety Features

Standing is better for your body. Sitting for too long can cause or worsen back and neck pain. Standing on the mowers allows you to duck under a tree branch. If the mower hits debris, it's easy to step off the platform compared to extracting yourself from a seat. The open platform is also easy to get on and off if the mower slips on a hill.

More Mowing in Less Time

Commercial stand-on mowers come in small footprint sizes. This allows you to work around tight spaces, such as between trees on a wooded property or around curving paths or edges of a patio. These zero-radius turn mowers increase your efficiency when turning and navigating around the features of a property.

The shorter length of these mowers also allows you to fit more equipment onto your trailer. They weigh less than a ride-on mower, making them easier to maneuver on a lawn and on your trailer. Their lighter weight also means they use less fuel, which saves you money.

Great-Looking Lawns

Pivoting front axles on stand-on mowers allow you to navigate hilly areas and slopes with ease. This means you will not cut the grass too short or leave it too long. The shape of the mower's front end allows you to weave it around shrubs and bushes, so you can trim all of the lawn as efficiently as possible. They allow you to work right to the edge of a driveway, patio or sidewalk, so no blades of grass are missed.

Take a look at the many commercial stand-on mowers we offer and find the one that’s best for your business!

Stand-On Mower Guidelines

A commercial lawn mower is similar in size and horsepower to many riding mowers. However, they lack one key feature: a seat. Instead, the machine comes with a small foot platform at the back. Mowing your lawn with a stand-on mower allows you to avoid shortening your hip flexors by sitting.

There are many benefits to using a stand-on mower. The center of gravity on stand-on lawn mowers is at your feet (rather than your seat), which improves maneuverability while mowing lawns. A stand-on mower allows you to get on and off the mower much faster, resulting in a faster job.

The majority of stand-on mowers are zero-turn machines, which means they can turn on a dime without requiring additional space to round corners. Stand-on machines have several advantages over their riding counterparts, including easy access to steering controls. They aren't for everyone, though.

Why Stand-On Mowers?

Our stand-on mowers are an excellent option for people who want to work efficiently and effectively. Listed below are some of the primary reasons why you should choose a stand-on mower:

• While standing, vibration from a running engine does not travel nearly as far into the low back.

• The higher vantage point provides better access to your surroundings as you mow.

• Walk-behind mowers have much less power and speed.

• Mounting and dismounting a stand-on mower is faster due to the lack of a seat and armrests.

• Because you can shift your weight from side to side, stand-on mowers are preferable on uneven terrain due to their innovative features.

• Almost all walk-behind mowers have a narrower mower deck.

Who Are Standers For?

Standers are the best lawn mowers for people with lower back problems, people who love to work smart but work fast at the same time.

Stand-On Mower Considerations

When choosing a stand-on mower, you should consider several factors to ensure that you get the one that will suit all your requirements. Below are the three primary reasons to consider:

• Dimensions of Your Yard: The size of your yard should largely determine the stand-on mower you choose. Do you have a large yard with a few closely spaced obstacles? Consult with our team to enlighten you more on your choice.

• Standing vs. Sitting: Manufacturers of stand-on mowers claim that owning one of their machines will change your life. A stand-on model will almost certainly have several benefits.

• Maneuverability: A zero-turn mower is usually the best option if you have a large lawn with a couple of plants or other obstructions. If you have a lot of closely spaced obstacles, a stand-on model will provide relatively better maneuverability than riding a zero-turn machine.

purchased directly from the factory, picked up at my fed ex distributor. took <35 minutes to have it running and on my trailer. asked and received a free hour meter. have had zero issues with this mower, runs like a champ- 27hp excellent fuel economy. moves quickly, handles hills like a champ. comfortable platform, controls at a reasonable height for my 6'1" frame. small negatives are gas gauge and fill is behind the cushion, dead man switch on the wrong side. this mower is not cheap, it is inexpensive compared to major brands, it cuts grass well at an outstanding price point using all the same major components the other use. if you want more than that, that is on you!

I own a commercial lawn service and we're now running 3 Bradley mowers. 2 52's and a 36" stander. These are probably my favorite mowers I've ever owned and I've owned all the big brands. Exmark, Toro, Scag, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna and currently also own Deeres and the Quiktrak fails in comparison to the Bradley Standers. Twice the price and half the mower, doesn't cut or stripe near as nicely as the Bradleys do. Even the guys prefer the Bradley's over the Quiktracks. It's more comfortable, the operator control are all right there and accessible, easy to see everything, etc.
The Bradley's have given us no trouble and employees can be really hard on equipment but these Bradley mowers just keep laying down stripes issue free. I have no reason to go spend twice the money on anything else now so for the foreseeable future we will just keep adding Bradleys to the fleet. I plan on buying a few more next spring. I was skeptical when we bought our 1st one but I'm a believer now.
Here's one of our setups with Bradley mowers.

You can see how nice they cut (this is cut with a 36" Bradley Stander

With 150+ hrs the only issue I’ve encountered was the wiring harness has worked it’s way loose from the PTO switch twice. Easily fixed and avoidable if I would just take two seconds to check it when I fill up. Otherwise just regular maintenance. This 52” cuts noticeably better than the 36” Wright Intensity AeroCore deck I also run. I also find the Bradley to be more comfortable. Customer service, when I ordered, was just exceptional. Bradley will be my first choice for future mower purchases.

I have two 52" mowers with the Briggs engine and they are hard to beat.

I bought the 52SC with the Briggs Commercial engine in December of 2018 from the factory. It shipped to my house. We used it to maintain our 2.5 acre property; as the residential equipment we were buying was just not up to the task. This mower laughed at that property. Then we moved and we used it on our farm. It fit right in with our other equipment, and has mowed hundreds of acres since we've owned it. Its been a fantastic mower. It mows fast, its very reliable, its easy to maintain. Over the years, I've broken a deck lift tension spring and a grease zerk, both of which were quick and easy fixes that didn't stop me from getting the job done. I will not hesitate to buy more equipment from Bradley Mowers, its been a great experience.

I own Benjamin Mowing and Landscaping, LLC out of Fort Mitchell, Al.
We have been using Bradley’s since 2020 and currently own four mowers.

The cut quality is on par with the higher priced brands. The crew actually prefers the Bradley over our other mowers. I’d highly recommend if you’re in the market.
