One dream that every homeowner has is that their lawn will be the envy of the entire neighborhood, and they will do anything within their reach to make this possible. The only problem is that with the changes in weather, thousands of lawn care equipment and chemicals, everyone's a little bit scared of trying new things for their lawn because they do not know what will work and what might not. As a lawn care expert, therefore, your responsibility is to educate the clients about new equipment and here are a few tips on how to get this done.
Personal Experiments
People only believe in the effectiveness of something, especially when it is new in the market and when they see evidence of it working. The easiest way to convince a customer that the new lawn chemical or mower will not kill their grass or poison the pets is showing them case studies where other clients have used the products with no side effects. If the product is very new and no one has tried it before, you may have to be your own guinea pig. Use the chemical or mower on your own lawn and record how the grass reacts to it. Customers will be even more willing to adopt the lawnmower if you are willing to bet your own lawn on it.
Live Demos
Another reason people keep off new yard maintenance equipment is when they are not sure how it is operated. In addition to creating videos, you can organize a day where you take the clients interested in the machinery out to a yard and show them the different machinery and how to operate it. You can dedicate an entire morning, afternoon or even the entire day to the process. Have a number of experts, and if possible representatives of the manufacturing company present during the live demo so that they can answer any questions that the clients will have by the end of the process.
Creating simplified manuals and lists
Another way that you can teach your customers about new yard machinery is taking the user manuals that come with them and simplifying them for the benefit of the user. Make lists of simplified operations such as switching on the machine, the different operations that it performs, how to power it, what to do in case it fails and general troubleshooting tips and when to call in an expert for repairs.
Help with the installation and first use
Another great way that you can teach about the use of yard care equipment is accompanying the client to their home to help with the setup and the first use. They will have more confidence when they are in the company of an expert and when they know someone can help if the machine does not work as expected.
These are some of the simple ways in which you can help your clients gain confidence using new machinery. Remember that when you offer warranties, you are expressing trust in the quality of the product, and the customer will be more inclined to invest in the said product.
